IMPORTANT CONSUMER ALERT: Protect yourself from unlicensed contractor activities. An occupational license is NOT a license to perform contracting work. A Handyman is not a licensed contractor and CANNOT obtain permits. ALWAYS check with your local building department. Make sure that your contractor has a license from Lake or Sumter County Building Divisions or the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. It is AGAINST THE LAW to hire unlicensed contractors and stiff penalties could apply.

CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS NOW REQUIRED:
Every building for which a permit for new construction is issued on or after 7/1/08 and having a fossil-fuel-burning heater or appliance, a fireplace, or an attached garage shall have an operational carbon monoxide alarm installed within 10 feet of each room used for sleeping purposes.


ENERGY CODE - By executive order of Gov Crist, 15% more energy efficiency will be required. HOWEVER, implementation date has been delayed again due to Tropical Storm Fay.
